In Math we’re continuing our work with operations with fractions! Students are working to notice patterns in multiplication of unit fractions by whole numbers and will soon apply their learning to multiplication of other fractions.
In Reading we’re expanding our thinking beyond characters to consider setting, plot, repeated details, mood, and things that connect to each other across whole texts. Students will work to make connections between these elements to understand the theme and main idea of a text.
In Writing we are applying all of our narrative writing skills to fictional narratives! Students will apply what they’ve learned about writing personal narratives to write their own realistic fiction stories.
In Social Studies we are getting started with our study of the regions of the United States. We’re kicking things off with the Northeast region. Students had to math each state with its capital city and locate it on a map. This week we will move on to learn about the climate and terrain of the Northeast region and how it impacted the lives of Native Americans in the 1700s.
