In MATH we have moved on to our new unit about collecting and representing data. Students are practicing organizing data into line plots, and analyzing those line plots to make sense of the data they have collected. Next week students will choose their own research question to collect data on and represent their research in line plots for their classmates to analyze.
In SCIENCE we wrapped up our unit on Changes in the Earth's Surface with a very exciting game of Jeopardy! Next week we will begin our first Social Studies unit on maps by practicing reading/interpreting different elements of maps.
In READING students are noticing patterns in their characters' behavior and using these patterns to make claims about their characters. The students are also noticing when characters do something that *doesn't* fit their typical behavior, and working to understand the significance of these instances.
In WRITING students have worked hard to draft their personal narratives, and are now editing and revising to take their stories from summaries to stories. They will do this by adding dialogue, "showing not telling" different elements of the story, and using descriptive language to help their readers envision the story thoroughly.
