Hello 4B Families!
We were so bummed to miss our field trip last week, but we are looking forward to *hopefully* rescheduling it soon!
In Math this week we are using multiple strategies to find equivalent fractions. Our most recent strategy is considering a fraction and then multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same number to get an equivalent fraction. The students know this works because a) any number over itself is equal to one, and b) anything multiplied by one is just itself! Later this week we will move on to deconstructing fractions to understand how fractions with the same denominator can be combined. For example, 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4= 3/4.
In Reading the students are continuing their work in research teams to research topics that are important in schools. We are looking at 2 new note-taking strategies so hopefully everyone will find one that is just right for them!
In Writing we are practicing writing interesting introductions and conclusions to our persuasive pieces. With strong introductions and conclusions we can be even more persuasive!
In Science we will finish up our discussion about how Earth materials are broken down (weathering). Then, we will begin to discuss the different ways these materials are moved around the Earth's surface (erosion).
